On June 27, 2011 the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan ‘On ratification of the agreement on the legal status of migrant workers and their families’.
The agreement was signed in St. Petersburg on November 19, 2010 between Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia.
Under the Agreement businesses within each country are allowed to employ each others’ migrant workers without having to comply to the restrictions of foreign labour laws and migrant workers can work in these countries without having to obtain a work permit.
The relationship between employer and employee is established upon the signing of the appropriate employment contract and shall be governed by the legislation of the country in which the employment takes place.
